Victoria Falls Lunar Rainbow

The Victoria Falls is sometimes opened to the public at night for tourists to view the lunar rainbow. This is the only place in the world where you could view the lunar rainbow. The other water fall which used to have this spectacular view was the Niagara Falls in America, but lighting system of New York City has distorted the lunar rainbow. The lunar rainbow appears during high water levels. To get a lunar rainbow you need a full spray for the moon’s light to shine through on nights that are clear so that the clouds do not obscure the moon. Depending on the moons position, the rainbow takes different shapes by rising form the gorge to the Falls’ lip and rising from the gorge away from the lip.

South Luangwa National Park

E Experts have dubbed South Luangwa to be one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world, and not without reason. The concentration of animals around the Luangwa River, and its oxbow lagoons, is among the most intense in Africa. The Luangwa River is the most intact major river system in Africa and is the life-blood of this 9059 km2 Park. The Park hosts a wide variety of wildlife, birds and vegetation. The now famous ‘walking safari’ originated in this Park and is still one of the finest ways to experience Africa’s pristine wilderness first-hand. The changing seasons add to the Park’s richness, ranging from; dry, bare bushveld in the winter, to a lush, green wonderland in the summer months. There are 60 different animal species and over 400 different bird species in South Luangwa National Park. The only notable exception is the rhino, sadly poached to extinction.

Music Festival to support Zambia's Tourism

CACTUS Agony, Kapiri Mposhi Top Rank Suite, a reggae band from South Africa and guest disc jockeys from the United Kingdom are some of the attractions at this year’s EleFest, a musical initiative that is meant to support Zambia’s country’s wildlife. This year’s EleFest, described as Zambia’s wildest music and arts festival, will take place on May 30 at the Lusaka Gymkhana Club. EleFest is organised by Game Rangers International (GRI), founded in 2008 with the specific aim of assisting the communities living around the Kafue National Park to better manage the natural resources of the area through support to wildlife management and protection and community outreach and education. The focus for GRI may be the Kafue National Park, but on May 30, attention will shift to the Gymkhana Club in the showgrounds.
